What have you been listening to?

I’ve been obsessed with Girl Band anime and Ave Mujica in particular really clicked with me, so I’ve been listening to them and they just put out a new song.

Here’s another song from them

And ye, the anime somehow does deliver on this vibe which is very weird when you consider it’s a direct sequel to It’s MyGo!!! like, you probably will be quite lost if you start with Ave Mujica, and MyGo!!!'s vibe is just completely different, even in this video that heavily features Ave Mujica characters.

It’s a bit crazier if you actually consider the shows that pre-date MyGo!!! but thankfully these two shows are barely connected to those, outside of taking place in the same location and some characters from those old shows having extremely minor cameos and a couple of song and band names being namedropped there’s not really anything to tie them together, probably for the best because the vibes do not fit at all for the most part.

love this, I don’t get enough DnB in my life

I’ve been listening to TWRP, my favourite robot space daddies from the future!
They dropped a new album a couple months back and ngl, I’ve had it on repeat since then. I just love their funky 80’s style synth-rock style!

My Big Day Off - TWRP

Extremely related to Stomach Book are Black Dresses, one of my fav bands. Also Ada Rook and Devi McCallion’s solo stuff is pretty great.

Meanwhile, me being a pop princess myself, I finally got around to listening to A Little Louder, Please by Rose Gray. I’d had a couple songs from it on my playlist but always skipped them out of habit. Turns out that was a bad idea! Album is absolutely full of bops!

On a real movie soundtrack kick lately, been switching between The Matrix Reloaded and Saw X soundtracks!

Been listening to a lot of music that I discovered through my best friend who passed away about two weeks ago. I hadn’t really realised how much he had shown me and how much our music tastes and journey of discovery was connected until now, so much good stuff. Everything from roots reggae to local (Swedish) indie bands, modern Turkish folk music, synthwave, metal, early electronic music and more. Just the whole damn spectrum.

Two bands we really loved throughout our closest years are Ratatat and Groundation. Many hundreds of hours listening to just them while we hung out and played games.

Gonna make a playlist and send to common friends, I think they’d enjoy that.

Taiwanese post-punk revival band No Party for Cao Dong

Is this anything? I love how Prince-coded it is

For the year I ended up in the top 0.75% of listeners of Waxahatchee on YTM. Country-folk singer-songwriter whose album last year, Tigers Blood, has been on endless repeat or me and put together a band with her sister and MJ Lenderman on guitar called Snocaps that is also excellent on their debut album released this year.

I like both Waxahatchee and MJ Lenderman so not entirely sure how I missed this! Currently working pretty well for me at slightly excessive volume for a Saturday evening

Needed some Jim O’Rourke in my life this evening so went back to this video

Withholding the root for as long as he does in the middle section is diabolical and I fucking love it lol

Also Jim O’Rourke is wonderful, highly recommend Eureka, Insignificance and Simple Songs to anyone

Diverse System (if you’ve never heard of them you can basically think of them as Japanese Monstercat; you’ve probably heard some of their artists’ work before if you’ve played any rhythm games by Konami or Sega) had a Bandcamp Friday sale last week, and a friend was gracious enough to gift me a bunch of their albums so I could load them into this productivity app called Gogh. I’ve been listening to a bunch of them on my own—in particular the Stream Palette series, which consists of a bunch of stream-friendly electronic music split up into “Ranked” and “Chatting” albums that are either high-energy for hype in-game playlists, or more relaxed for stream intros and… Well, chatting.

Ground Zero in Stream Palette 6 Ranked is my absolute favourite in the series; it’s so full of energy and it reminds me of the kinda stuff I listened to religiously back in high school.

I also gotta give a shoutout to their Works series of albums, which feature more pared-back but not necessarily ambient or lo-fi tracks that are designed to help you with productivity—they’re made to be just the right amount of stimulating to keep you motivated. works.12 is my favourite of the bunch there.

I think what makes all these compilations so impressive is that many of them are stream-friendly, and yet they don’t sound like they’re streamer-friendly—they sound like proper songs that would get you content ID’d on YouTube/VOD muted on Twitch.

This days the playlist is really chaotic !
Because 2025 is a freaking good year for music (I’ll definitely write about my favourite when the year will be done).

But here is one girl I listen to a lot, it’s Vhoebe with her album Amothers Lov, true momcore music, cute and funny.

I’m sure some of you know her but with her game developpement work because she is one of the duet from Analgesic Prod (Anodyne series, Even The Ocean, Sephonie), who released few days ago Angeline Era !

Bit of an eclectic mix tonight

A little surprised I agree with Pitchfork but this is song of the year for me

Ryuichi Sakamoto + Alva Noto good lord

Richard Tee + Steve Gadd, especially the breakdown in the middle

I’ve been listening to a bit of a variety of different things as I often do. Here are a few of my favourites right now.

Maisemakuvia Suomesta by Anssi Tikanmäki has to be my favourite album right now. My 2 favourite tracks are probably ‘Tuusulan Moottoritie’ and ‘Muuttuva Maaseutu’

Another album I’ve been listening to recently is Mosaic by Wang Chung. I especially love ‘The Flat Horizon’ and ‘Betrayal’

And finally Родом ниоткуда by Пикник. It’s hard to pick a favourites from this album but my top 2 would be ‘Родом ниоткуда’ and ‘Это он’. (not a new album to me but just one I thought I would share because it’s one of my all time favourites)’’

I came across Queen of Saba via the robot that recommends new music to you and am quite enjoying their stuff:

the guitar part is just so fucking good

I have a pretty small regular rotation of music compared to most.

I have been giving Since By Man a good listen this week. They were a favorite (and still are) of mine as a teenager. Heavy music from Milwaukee, WI.

Flavor Foley are the hot new Vocaloid act in the Anglosphere, and 2025 was a huge year for them with hit after hit. I really didn’t expect them to release one more song this year, let alone for it to be my favourite of this year so far. But damn, I love how multifaceted this song is—it’s about defying expectations, about breaking out from routine, about rejecting the artificialities in our society, and that to be human is to rise above all of this. And of course, you can totally read a trans allegory out of this. Jamie Paige herself put it succinctly: “bobot transgedner”

There will never be enough Altın Gün for me to be satisfied. I dig their newest single and can’t wait for the next album. I don’t know, something about Turkish psychedelic rock is incredible.

Also, if no one here has ever heard about Equinoxious, you should listen as soon as you can. Mexican artist making dark synthwave stuff only using ancient synths from the USSR.
