What game(s) have you been enjoying recently?

I miss being social media mutuals with those devs.

In non-vidgame stuff, I was in a New Years session of Perfect Draw, a TTRPG designed to emulate card game anime like Yu-Gi-Oh or Vanguard. It’s a really cool system that uses Powered By The Apocalypse mechanics to abstract the less interesting moments of a card game, and incorporate dramatic character moments into the proceedings.

The GM premade some characters and decks, so I chose The Prodigy playbook combined with a Power Rangers-inspired deck. From there I came up with Keto Sentai, a Seto Kaiba knock-off who isn’t satisfied being the head of the #2 card manufacturer in the world. Naturally my rival wiped the floor with me in a tournament match, only for shadow golems to suck us into a strange team battle where we eventually triumphed!

It was a lot of fun, though having a good chunk of character and deck creation streamlined things a lot. The system is very cool and I would definitely play more of it.

Bought street fighter 6 and what a blast

Even tho the world tour mode runs like ass on the ps4, it’s still the best fighting game single player campaign i’ve ever played

playing the most recent corru.observer update and I am reminded just how absolutely fantastic this game is, and I realize I need to be here shouting at you all to play it. It’s free and you play it right in your browser! It’s also one of those games where the best experience is to go into it absolutely blind but if I need to give the driveby pitch it’s “point and click hybrid genre game about exploring an old deteriorating alien bio-computer and trying to solve the mystery behind it also there is a bonus optional roguelike hidden within”

Dunno if I can share any pictures or videos of these games due to graphic content, but the Citadel series (The Citadel, Beyond Citadel) has been one of my unexpected hits lately.

Like Ultrakill, it stacks together an appealing style with fresh, uncomplicated but varied gameplay that challenges any shooter fan.

The Citadel drops you in a dark universe with both Abrahamic and Lovecraftian themes and iconography. It’s similar in tone to EVA, but with greater focus on military and weapon details than giant mechs and otherworldly monsters. You go up against a majority of human opponents, all of them female-presenting, with robotic or drone opponents as well.

The Citadel’s weapons all operate with some respect to actual marksmanship. Spread, bullet drop, muzzle velocity and reload mechanics are unique to each gun you use. For instance, your starting pistol in the first game is a tube-fed revolver that reloads one round at a time. A suitably simple reload process and good accuracy make it handy for even some midrange targets.

The second game expands on this greatly, assigning three keys for Cocking to put rounds into battery, Reloading to insert rounds or magazines into the firearm, and Extracting for empty magazines. These three actions are used in varying ways between all your different weapons.

I really enjoy the artstyle and its emphasis on the deliberate clashing of hostility, violence, loneliness, and distinct beauty. It certainly sets itself apart from other Doom-likes.

I finished Dark Souls 2 just after Christmas and now I’m playing The Witcher 3 and Phantom Hourglass! I have this habit was switching between these large games that take a long time to finish, but often one of them sticks and I actually finish it.

I’m playing Baldur’s Gate 3 for the first time. This is MoonBeam. She is a Rock Gnome Wizard. Yes, she looks gaudy. I will die for her.

Following @NotJam bringing it up a couple weeks back in the thread, finally played through Merp in Merpworld. Ended up 100%ing it in about 4 hours. Surprisingly challenging at parts! Some of those bonus level puzzles were pretty tricky, when going for the medals. Also got stuck/confused at a couple parts of the game, but was able to figure both instances out with a little patience. All in all, enjoyable little platformer - would recommend!

I’ve been getting back into WarioWare: Smooth Moves and it still kicks ass, same with mario party 8

After making a few attempts, I finally really dug into The Outer Worlds. Started just before Christmas, made it past the Groundbreaker for the first time, and just completed it (including the DLC) yesterday! Really fun, although I didn’t really dig into weapon customization as much as I should. Trying to decide if to start OW2 now, or try and finish FF7: Rebirth

I somehow fell into the trap and thought you were talking about The Outer Wilds for a few seconds longer than I’m comfortable admitting

It’s quite understandable  I do love the Outer Wilds, one of my fave games of all time! Can’t remember if I ever finished the DLC, come to think of it…

I kept a list of all the new (to me) games I played in 2025 and wrote a little review for each of them here: Games 2025

Lots of point & click adventure games here, but also some other stuff.

I just finished Detention (there’s a running theme of me getting to games years later at this point) and thoroughly enjoyed it for the most part - monster encounters could get a little repetitive, but otherwise it was a thoroughly compelling and well told story with a strong and distinctive art style, great sound design and some engaging puzzles.

I vaguely remember the Netflix series being surprisingly good, but can’t remember all that much about it as I was tired and ill when I watched so mileage may vary!

I have been playing a ton of Nuclear Throne ever since its 10th anniversary update last month. I put many hours into it back when it was in Early Access, and I love it so much more now that it can be played in widescreen and at 60fps. It might not be my favorite roguelike-y game of all time, but I LOVE how twitchy and frantic the gameplay is and how tense it can get at times. Also, it gets bonus points from me in particular since it was made in my favorite engine, GameMaker.

Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. King Abaddon

I’ve decided to pick this up on the still functional PS3 via PSN store after going the remake of the first game. It’s a vastly different experience without much of the QOL adjustments but I’ve been engrossed with the story so far. My overleveling habits once again kick in while trying to get my demons’ levels up and filling the demon chart since resummoning is so expensive..

This is one I want to get back to. Played a ton back when it came out but could never beat the Throne. 10th anniversary update looks really, really good.

Can confirm that it’s great, highly recommend!

I’ve been playing Chants of Sennaar - there’s some frustrations with tedious stealth sections and lots of slow walking if you’re missing one last hint somewhere, but it’s absolutely worth it for the incredible core loop. I’ve played the first two areas so far, and gradually learning to read the languages is such a joy. The pacing and placement of clues is immaculate, I can’t even imagine how much playtesting it must have needed to make for such a smooth experience. Doesn’t hurt that it’s beautiful and has wonderful music too!

I’m having a ROUUUUGH time playing games lately, for some reason I just can’t keep playing them without feeling bored. But, recently I decided to buy Terraria to saw what the fuss about this game was about (better late than never ig), and I had a pretty good time with it! It made me so happy that I even decided to start Final Fantasy 4 3D remake lol.
