For me, I’m gonna go with the coward’s answer, which is that I outgrew “favorites” as a concept somewhere in my late teens.
I do still really wish I had more time to play Elite: Dangerous though.

I love Chibi Robo, the people’s open world metroidvania.
For me it has to be Fallout 3/NV, I’m just a big fan of walking around and picking stuff up
Mine is Kerbal Space Program 1, I have spent an ungodly amount of time on that game.
Depends on what you’re asking for, the ones that tend to stick with me are the ones that made me deeply emotional and just refuse to leave my thoughts.
Currently that’s still 1000xResist, it was an emotional ride for me, and I finished it in nearly a singular setting. Added to the experience is ending up in Vancouver and incidentally learning more of the nuances through that (it’s a long story).
Selaco I’d throw in for being a really great throwback shooter that doesn’t overstate it’s welcome.
Also Caravan Sandwitch.. and both Citizen Sleepers.. add in Rogue Trader (that I still need to finish) for warming me up to the W40k world that’s slowly becoming more interesting to me.
I’ll cut it here to not turn this into a 12 pager on how and what games in my life made me feel.
It’s been a while since I touched it but I got into KSP very early on in its development and spent a good 1000+ hours on it. Never made it past Duna though.
Dishonored 2 probably.
I grew up on Bullfrog games like Syndicate, Dungeon Keeper and Theme Hospital. I have a fondness for those kind of games.
I do not have a favorite game as there’s so many games to experience. If put in an impossible situation where I must pick one, I’d have to say Persona 3 FES without any mods or updates. It’s the right kind of PS2 grungy with that cool Megaten difficulty I’m looking for. Also the party AI is brilliant.

The AI is so smart because the AI knows how to play Megaten. The AI will explore enemy weaknesses and, if there’s a miss or a block, they’ll adjust.
A big meme-able example but one that highlights the brilliance is Mitsuru’s affinity for Marin Karin. If Mitsuru misses or gets blocked when using Marin Karin, her AI will not use it again in a fight. Her AI is correct in trying to use a charm move because if it lands an enemy is taken out of combat for 2+ turns.
Why pump out DPS and risk not defeating when status effects can do the same at a fraction of the risk.
unironically my fave part of most RPGs
also a big fan of Monster Hunter, I Want To Smack A Big Lizard With A Giant Sword
it does tickle me you know exactly what i meant
i’m just glad they gave people the option later
I don’t know if I have a single favourite game, which is also a coward’s answer but is true. At various times it’s been Fallout New Vegas, Tombi 2, RuneScape, Dragon Age… I guess I just love an RPG?
Also, to my shame, I’ve never played Chibi Robo
I’m not familiar with Chibi-Robo unfortunately.
I have to concur about Fallout in general - 1, 2, 3 and NV are all great titles.
I can’t pick a favorite, for sure, but I suppose Half Life 1 and 2 have left the most impact on me.
I remember working through a summer, saving up for a video card upgrade, watching the HL2 E3 presentation every other day, I was so excited for that game. Of course, I skipped school the day it came out.
Half-Life was definitely one of those ‘you had to be there’ moments. It felt like the FPS genre exploded in the 90s in terms of technical prowess and breadth. Then somehow Half-Life came and raised the bar in a way that no one was expecting.
I remember reading PC Gamer where they had preview coverage of Half-Life and SiN side by side, thinking Half-Life looked kind of boring by comparison.
Then I got to play Half-Life, and, well…
My absolute favourite game of all time has to be Yoda Stories, a weird semi-casual kinda-roguelike top-down adventure game that was LucasArts’ attempt to make something with the mass appeal of Solitaire. And also there’s a funky Game Boy Colour port. If I ever did a video essay, it would be on that game.
SiN! I only ever played the demo but it felt spectacular in comparison to older games, but yeah then Half-Life came out and there was no contest.
“Favorite” is hard to pin down however if it’s based on amount of time played it’s be a tie between Shining Force Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Digimon World
I liked Chibi Robo. I’m sorry, I’ll understand if you want to ban me.
I don’t really have a single favourite game, but Final Fantasy VII is probably the most important to me on a personal level for lots of reasons. It’s a boring answer, but hey, beloved games are often beloved for a reason, and for me it was very much the right game at the right time in my life.
Some other favourites are Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap, Klonoa: Door to Phantomile, Xenogears, Grandia, Suikoden 2, Phantasy Star IV, Alien Soldier, Terranigma, and Napple Tale.
