I’m a cat enjoyer and a tech nerd, and bringing creative folks’ ideas to life gives me joy. I mostly write code, but I’ll learn anything if it’s interesting enough.
Hi, I’m Paul, otherwise known as pixel.str337 on my tiny Instagram page with about four pictures where I started with the intention of making pixel art, then got distracted, then never did much of anything (it’s a work in progress!).
I’m an old skool UK based SEGA head, and grew up when the Mega Drive was king and Nintendo was a distant second. This had made my taste in games very unusual and also mean my favourites tend to contain a small but fast blue hedgehog.
I’m a dad of two daughters. One introduced me to Undertale, the other to Pokémon. Mostly I’m glad they share their hobby with me and it’s been fascinating watching their tastes grow and change as they’ve gotten older.
I’m only enough to remember forums the first time round, and am a member of a few, but mainly lurk there and don’t feel like I fit in. I was on the lookout for something new and stumbled onto this place by pure accident, and because I follow some cool people on Bluesky who were talking about it.
Hello everyone :> I’m squiggly_frog , a French transguy studying art in Switzerland
Just heard about this forum by a friend, and it sounds like much fun so here i am, i like to do zines, illustrations, writing, animation and sometimes games. A lot of what i do relate to queerness. I also love Hyperpop and i was raised in fandom culture Ao3 is one of my comfort corner of internet. I like to play Indie games and losing myself on itch.io.
that’s it for now
Nice to meet y’all !
G’day. It’s everyone favourite H.P and Persona bossman, Nyarly. I took the name after getting some bad mojo (an object lesson in op-sec and internet privacy) and it sorta stuck.
A friend tugged me along into here, and I can easily say this place has its own comfy atmosphere. I go two directions even if I don’t mention it, and I’ve been writing fanfics about games, shows, and other nerdy crap since my tenure as a high school student. I’m a freak that was raised by the likes of Deviantart, Newgrounds and early Youtube from the outset, if I do say so myself.
I love fantasy, sci-fi, lovecraft, historical, and many other themes. If it gets its hooks in me, I can enjoy it. I hope to meet some special people on here to share an obsession or two with.
I can’t remember which came first, me reading the book because I stumbled across it or because I was already consuming ZZT content.
I have a fascination with both the amateur, old school game design engines as well as minimalist graphics.
One of my passion projects stuck perpetually on the backburner is to do a modern interpretation of SuperZZT. Allow for the widest possible selection of colors and character sets with a modern scripting system (maybe just implementing something like LUA) and allowing anyone to run and connect to a server via SSH. Just kind of rebel against the push of modern dev and ever-expanding graphics requirements.
I relate to this, I never before in my life been a part of a forum (at least not an active one) but this is different, I am so excited of being part of this and reading all the cool people introductions makes me hyped as hell.
I’m Darren, I do a bunch of stuff like writing, publishing, and podcasting under my Pixels and Polygons umbrella. I like to talk about games and comics. Here for the classic vibes.
Hey, I’m McKenna, the other host of Flashback 64 along with @Goo. I also post let’s play style videos of video games on YouTube (mostly newish indie games)
Hey there! I am Dennis / Squado_611. It’s been a looong time I have posted something in a forum, must be 20 years or so. I play video games, read books, articles, and work , the usual stuff, I think…
Hey, I’m Dark. I like video games so much that I’ve written a “crapton” of articles for Hardcore Gaming 101, less so these days due to a full time job and a year of complete medical nonsense, but things are normalizing now. Specifically, I’ve written the majority of articles that ended up in their Retro Indie Game book collections, and edited the second volume. I have a youtube I plan to use more you can check from my profile, and just plan to post here when I find a game I’m obsessing over a bit and want to talk about, which is getting harder and harder on social media (not helped by me holing up on a small fediverse instance and nowhere else due to hating what social media is now, my old man hermit powers growing every day). Hope to enjoy my time here.
Figure I should also mention I’m bi and aromantic, and much of my forum days ended up closing out with at least 60% of every forum I used having a late life surprise of most of my posting friends coming out as transwomen (which was neat). So yeah, I’m not new to that stuff.
I can’t even begin to describe how floored I am by this response. I just meant to make a lifeboat in case discord shit the bed, but clearly I’ve tapped into something here and I’m so happy that all of you want to be a part of this foundation I’ve built.
I’m Bartows, brazillian video editor and videogame gremlin. Very interested in academic discussions of the medium, playing retro games both on original hardware and emulation (both are awesome) and i’m also a monster hunter addict
I resonate strongly with every part of this post. Monster Hunter would likely need its own thread, but I’ve been playing some on fan-hosted servers for 2, 3, and 4U lately!
