I randomly started and finished Mr. Driller 2 a couple nights ago. Cute game.
And I finished my annual replay of Ocarina of Time last night.

I’ve picked up Super Bomberman R on the Switch out of my backlog, I’ve only ever played the battle mode and never really done the story. It’s pretty fun apart from the bosses, which so far are disappointing and frustrating. But eh, it’s Bomberman, not playing it for the bosses.
I bought Super Bomberman R as one of my first Switch games. I had fun with it for a little while. I just played the story mode and then stopped.
I’m still chipping away on Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag so I’m keeping my thoughts, of which there are many, until then.
The multiplayer is absolutely bonkers, and I loved the cool Konami crossover skins you could unlock!
I definitely haven’t finished as many games this year as I did last year (in 2024 I binged the entire Yakuza series, minus some of the spinoff games, so the list of games was way higher then).
I think the last game I completed was Death Stranding 2, which I absolutely adored, and affected me emotionally more than any video game I’ve ever played for reasons I still haven’t quite made sense of.
Early this year I finished 1000xRESIST and Citizen Sleeper, two games I would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone with an interest in sci-fi.
Crow Country mentioned! I was so pleasantly surprised by that game. The art style and general resident evil-ness of it was enough for me to give it a shot but I thought it was really well-designed. I loved exploring the park, thought that the puzzles were fun, and was really pleased by the story/twist.
Rolled credits on Pokemon ZA. I kind of plowed through it. Its a well made game but it wasnt quite what I was looking for at this time. Now I’m messin around with Air Riders!
I have beaten Touhou Danmaku Kagura. Well, the story mode for it. The rhythm game grind remains eternal.
Just finished Sonic Adventure (DX Steam port modded to look more like the Dreamcast version), a game that I’ve been playing all my life but I’ve technically never played from start to finish before. It’s a wonderful and ambitious game, even if it doesn’t hold up in every regard. Happy belated birthday, Dreamcast!
Finally hit credits on Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. You know, the pirate stuff is cool, and very different for one of these early AssCreeds, and as a certified Caribbeanite, interesting to explore a scaled down version of the area, even if it doesn’t contain the area I’m from and consists mostly of copy paste jungle environments.
But in the end it’s still an Assassin’s Creed, you know? Has that classic Ubisoft bloat. Endless tailing missions, dozens and dozens of shallow gameplay features that don’t interact meaningfully, repetitive environments, freerunning that just gets in the way of smooth controls, and a story and characters I couldn’t care less about.
Not to say I didn’t have a good time, but of the handful of games from this series I have played, I wouldn’t put it at the top. That spot still belongs the Assassin’s Creed II. Feels like they nailed the formula there before getting completely overloaded in the bloat, and I think renaissance Italy was still the perfect setting for this kind of game.
Anyway, about to install Watch Dogs now and I’m sure I’m gonna like that a lot less.
It is such a blast!
Ended up finishing it some 3 or 4 times, got all secrets and unlockables
Driving the boat is so fun tho!
I suppose but I feel like the ocean had too much traffic. I’d have loved it if they had the confidence to let me just sail the waves for more than 2 minutes at a time without interruption.
Half Life 2 Episode One
don’t have much to say about it, it was pretty short. Gonna play Episode Two soon (hopefully)
Episode 2 is a bit more meaty than 1, they were definitely trying more things with it.
i think i might have never played episode 2, i just can’t remember because it was so long ago. i kinda want to replay the half life games but i’m waiting to see if they do anything for the steam machine and/or half life 3.
I only played episode 2 once, but i remember it being awesome
Episode 1 felt more like a tech demo with a story, with them showing off new things the engine could do
HL Episode 2 done! It was really good, and yeah, in comparison, Episode 1 seems a lot like an intermission. The strider battle at the end was really fun, though parts of it were too frustrating. Also, damn, that cliffhanger ending, I can’t believe they’ve been hanging on that since 2007…
It would be really funny if the next Half-Life game was announced at the Game Awards tomorrow, like some people are predicting.
I have beaten Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army on the hard difficulty. I enjoyed it a lot as my very first Atlus game! The story and lore was nice and the VAs are really good! I hope the second game gets a remake too…
I’ll try to do a second playthrough on the unlockable hardest difficulty next year and get all the cheevos for it.
