Monster Hunter World Weapons

I’ve been playing World and can’t settle on a weapon - what are peoples’ favorites? What do you like about certain weapons, what do you think is the main draw, what do you think is fun to do or play with? Basically, sell me on a weapon type (or specific weapon), or just rant/infodump!
