A hunter must hunt (monsters)

Finally beat Omega Planetes in Wilds yesterday - glad to see that the tradition of Final Fantasy crossover monsters kicking my butt has continued. I think I enjoyed this one more than Behemoth, though I’m still not a big fan of the raid mechanics in monster hunter. Still, the spectacle of the final phase of the fight was really awesome.

I just hope they keep the DPS-check style mechanics to the FF monster this time… I still wake up crying about Iceborne Alatreon.

Took me and my friends way too many attempts until we managed to beat it.

Still haven’t tried savage version, and i’m scared

On another note, when playing solo, i’ve been slowly transitioning to hammer. The bonking feels so good

So, i was having trouble sleeping between sunday and monday, feeling anxious and all that

And my sleep deprived brain decided it was a good idea to buy monster hunter stories 1+2 bundle on switch at 2 am

So now i’m playing stories 1 as well

I had started it on 3ds earlier this year, but god damnit does it run bad there, gave up very quickly. It’s funny how much better the game is by simple virtue of running at a framerate above 12 during exploration

I’ve been on the fence about this for a while. Turn-based MH RPG with collectable monsters does sound cool. Will be curious to hear your thoughts!

Still fairly early in, just got to the second map

So far, it’s a very chill feel good rpg. It has a kid friendly aesthetic and very forgiving mechanics, so its doing wonders for when i need a low stress gaming session (and it’s been necessary). The encounters take a but too long, but since it’s on the easier side grinding is unecessary, so it’s fine (the switch version has up to x3 fast forward but i generally dislike doing that). In terms of story, it has some charming characters but it’s all very basic. Going out to forage, complete side quests and collect new monster eggs is pretty fun.

Throwing this here because I didn’t want to create spam in this topic, but it is Monster Hunter related!

My introduction to Monster Hunter was 3 and 4 on the 3DS, but for some reason I found the learning curve quite steep. Monster Hunter World was when I really got my teeth into the series and first picked up (and never put down) the Gunlance!

I got through the base game of Monster Hunter World, and then some way into Icebourne before I got distracted with pretty much anything and everything else (as is usually the case with me and games). I played a bit of Rise but didn’t quite get into it (hoping to go back to it), and recently I’ve been playing Wilds. Which I’ve been enjoying! The balance of story/free-range hunting is a bit different to that of World but it’s not a deal-breaker.

I absolutely love the different armours and hunter customisation, I must dig out some outfit shots to share. I always name and model my Palicos on my cats, so my Palico in Wilds is named and modelled after my cat Small Chunk.

Played a lot of hunting horn and greatsword on world, but i guess the best answer is try out different ones to get a feel for them, the gamr changes a lot when you change weapons

Gogmazios is beating my ass

And I haven’t managed to beat savage omega so far either

It’s clear to me I need artian weapons now, but I heavily dislike the artian options for hunting horn, so I guess I’ll change my main weapon

Hunted Gog for the first time last night after I got hit by one of his attacks I was very

I have a group I’ve hunted for a few years with so we did beat it but that’s a really tough hunt. I was going from grinding to HR100 without even needing to use potions to running out of items mid-Gog.

I made my first artian weapon last night too - a paralyze horn since I didn’t want to upgrade my last one. Song list is just ok but I do love para weapons.

I am quite a fan of the series!

I started with mH3U on the 3DS and went all the way to the highest G-rank quests on solo, and then I tried my hand at MH Generations, which was also my first online experience with the game. There were a lot of fucking weirdos though lol

Much more recently I’ve played a lot of MHRise on the switch. I played it solo, with my joyfriend and with my gf as well. It was such a blast. They made the long sword so fucking interesting to play.

A bunch of days ago I started playing MH4U on my modded 3DS! Might try having a pretendo account to play online

I have been hunting with a lot of different weapons, ranging from Great swords (my first love) to Long Swords, Switch Axes, Charge Blades, Dual Blades, Hammers, but also Lances, Gunlances, Swords and Shields, Insect Glaives, Hunting Horns and Bows to a lesser extent. I am at least good with all of these weapons!

It sounds like a few of us have MH4U on our 3DS - it would be fun to get some hunts in some time!

Is there like a friend request feature with this game? How would we hunt together

We’ll need to all have hacked 3DS Consoles connected to the Pretendo Network, and to add each other as friends once that’s done. I’m at work rn so I cant make a complete guide but it’s not too bad so far as modding a console goes.
