I see people are going the science/alchemy route but to me Chester Beakers is the heist name of a falconer who has trained his bird to steal medals from the chests of grandstanding military figures.

The lead in the largely forgotten 1989 BBC tea time drama “Chester Beakers” and its follow up “Chester Beakers Breaks Out”. I’ve never watched it myself so I’ve no idea how or why they ended up in jail at the end of the first series but I do remember some fuss in the papers at the time due to him stealing a tin of corned beef and the Daily Mail claiming it would start a trend amongst kids.
The ‘Ban Beakers’ campaign didn’t really catch on though so they gave up after a fairly short while.
