This time around we are making something with Wareware, a simple and cute app to make little games that play in your browser! These can be simple little scenes or more complex games. If you’ve ever used bitsy, imagine bitsy in 3D, but even simpler. The end result is a scene in which you have a little guy walking around a world of cubes.
Here are the rules:
This is not a competition and the only reward is your sense of accomplishment.
Use this thread to discuss anything related to the jam and, when you’re ready, to post your submission before the deadline.
Do not use generative AI in any capacity.
Upon completion of the jam this thread will be locked and I’ll start a new one with a big post to showcase all submissions.
Theme and Requirements:
Think of a place nearby that you like. A park, a historic building, a particular street, a natural monument, whatever. Now build a low res version of it in Wareware. The scene can be as simple or complex as you wish. Have it be just something to walk around, or throw some characters and game mechanics in there, your choice. Recreate it in great detail with the limited tools you have, or go entirely abstract with it. All up to you!
The end result will be this:
Your Wareware project uploaded to itch.io or wherever you like to upload your HTML alongside at least one picture of the real life place it is based on and a small description of why this place is interesting or meaningful to you. Post the link to it in this thread.
You have two weeks. Show us what you got, and above all have fun!
I love thecatamies’ Magic Wand, (which wareware as an engine seems heavily influenced by) so I’ve had my eye on it for a while and really look forward to its official release.
That’s ok to feel, deadlines are always supposed to be cruel in that way.
For me personally though, when I get a Jam done on time or not I always keep the result to myself anyway, (either to re-purpose for something else or have as educational reference) because to me, the jamming itself is more important than the jar it’s supposed to go in or even the shelf it’s supposed to sit on next to what everyone else has made.
