PSP & Vita Mega Thread ☆

The psp and vita are two of my favorite handhelds. Do any of you have fond memories of them? What are your favorite games for them?

Psp- my favorite psp games are valkyrie profile, maverick hunter x, disgaea 1, the port of final fantasy iii’s remake, final fantasy type 0 and my world, my way: princess of light and dark. I also really like the umd movies and a few games i didnt mention as favorites like the black rock shooter game and fate tiger/colosseum. My first experience with the psp was with my older brothers hacked one. I beat parasite eve and ffvii on it.

Vita- I got my vita for my 16th birthday from my nii-nii!!! I spent a LOT of time on it. Favorite games for it are Akiba’s Trip 2, Soul Sacrifice, MGS Hd collection, Muramasa rebirth, Corpse Party: Blood Drive, Kagero: Dark Side Princess, Gravity Daze, A Rose In The Twilight, Yomawari, and Odin Sphere Leifthrasir.

I did not have a PSP or PS Vita as a kid, but I do have a PSP now, it’s a great machine though I mainly use it to play PS1 games, beat Castlevania Symphony of the Night on it and have been playing Koudelka and Racing Lagoon on it, it’s great I love it.

I have a PSP model 3000, it does have a problem though, the analogue knob does not detect down right diagonal inputs, so any games that use analogue are kind off a pain, wonder if there’s a way to fix that issue.

EDIT:
I did look it up and found this video, looks a bit difficult for me since I have no experience with modifying hardware.

I also watched the video on the Model 2000 and that’s much easier to fix, should have gotten the model 2000.

I didn’t have a PSP, but I still have my PS Vita—a PCH-2000 I got for my birthday in 2015. After Project Mirai DX on the 3DS primed me, I took the leap towards Project DIVA (specifically F, F 2nd, and X) on the PS Vita (at the time I didn’t have a PS3 and Project DIVA X as the only mainline PS4 game is… contentious to say the least), and I played those games religiously up until around 2020 or so. Looking back on it, I think all that time I spent playing Project DIVA primed me for the arcade rhythm games I really got into later.

Project DIVA made up the vast majority of my PS Vita play time, but I did also play through Neptunia Rebirth 1, as well as dabbling a little in Persona 4 Golden, Borderlands 2, and Citizens of Earth… But none of those games really held my attention for as long.

I love my PSP and Vita, my first imports where PSP shmup collections. I have vivid memories of getting the Spiderman UMD and watching it while on a trip.

Gurumin is one of my favorite PSP games!

Unfortunately, my PSP battery got swollen and I couldn’t replace it and the memory card on my Vita died.

But I call my Steam Deck “Vita 2” since I play PSP games and Vita ports on it. XP

got the first PSP 20 years ago, just trashed the battery this year for safety. It was great, amazing amount of good games, but also had the worst possible screen which made certain games like GTA unplayable for me due to amount of ghosting combined with the general low tech level.

Think that was the last console I ever bought

I only just got a PSP in the last few years, I think it’s an underrated collectors handheld due to how affordable some of the games are, especially if you’re comfortable settling for loose copies, I’ve repaired a few with tape. You could also play legitimate backups of your PSP and PS libraries, trivially easy to get a micro SD adapter and run a custom loader.

My highlights so far are;

I got Ridge Racer 2 which is easily one of the best in the series, featured basically every stage in the PSX era and one from Ridge Racer V, I also like the nitros boosting with the drift tech. I wish Ridge Racer games are more accessible on current systems.

I also love Lumines II, it does not do much to the series, but it features licensed music which ranks from Black Tambourine by Beck, and Bottle Rocket by The Go! Team to Pump It by The Black Eyed Peas. I’m still trying to unlock Heavenly Star by Genki Rockets.

Extend Every Extra is a real psychedelic puzzle shooter/detonator game, the goal is to hit the detonator at the right time to destroy every block in contact with each other, not a great explainer I know, just trust me on this!

edit: the only Movie UMD I own is Tezuka’s Metropolis.

If anyone could direct me to a decent battery I’d be stoked, my aftermarket replacement is sorta weak. However, I expect that to be in line with the tech.

Never had either, but am playing a lot of psp games of my retroid pocket 3+, and to me the highlight goes to trails in the sky. Such a wonderful rpg

I think, i’ve bought PSP from my first salary (but it was already at end of it lifecycle). Sadly couple of ears ago it “spicy pillowed”… But i still have my vita with me, even after changing countries, still my fav thing.

Still have my little Vita in my closet. It’s not only handy for portable gaming but it was fun playing VNs on it as a little otome game machine.

I think now the memory card is failing. So I’m not sure if I need to get games off then format it or what. But I have fond memories of playing Stranger of Sword City on it. I even made a relationship chart for my soldiers.

Absolutely back things up first then format

Im still making memories with mine, just brought it to a local convention and got a lot of good pics! I had one as a kid, but this is one I got in 2018 at a pawn shop. I never had the camera growing up but I would’ve been all over it back then ^^
