Post your DVD collection!

My girlfriend and I like to collect DVDs for the purpose of watching on CRT (for TV shows from before the mid-2000’s, largely), and Blu Rays and 4ks for the purpose of color depth/image quality.

So far, these are all the ones we have! Would be curious to see other people’s collections.

Due to space constraints and years of moving around, I try not to collect too much.

This is my current shelf of DVDs, it shrinks/expands over time; I try to keep only the ones that I absolutely cannot part with. All of them were very cheap or free. The ones that I have watched will either be given to friends as rare fun gifts or placed in the take-or-leave room at our local recycling station.

Love watching DVDs!

there are some blurays in here but with how my collection is arranged it is unavoidable

Oh, yeah, don’t worry about them being specifically DVDs necessarily, I was using it as a catch-all term for disc-based visual media storage. Awesome collection!

Finally got around to taking a pic of mine. This collection has absolutely no quality control and is a synthesis of discs I’ve picked up and kept through my entire life (childhood, college roommates, family gifts, etc.).

There’s plenty in here that I don’t really care for anymore but I find value in watching everything here. Twin Peaks and Steins;Gate are watched basically every year.

Including a text list bellow:

  • Star Wars: The Complete Saga

Seeing a lot of Twin Peaks in here, not really surprising though! :hot_beverage:

Honestly less surprised by the propensity of Twin Peaks and more surprised by the prevalence of that specific release, but it is a very succinct and pragmatic one!

My copy contains the original, return, and FWWM and I got it for a steal but I’m fairly certain it’s not a legit copy (I took the discs out and out them in a disc binder because this thing was really rough on them)

I had a similarly compactly packaged collection of better call saul on blu-ray and I had to throw away the original case and put the disks in a CD binder. it’s crazy how they just stack and shove them in there with no regard for how difficult it can be to take the disks out. also with that release, each disk was just a reprint of the original individual season releases. sloppy, but I guess you get what you pay for. I want to avoid getting one like that again. the nolan box set is such an eyesore (and barely any of the movies on it are any good). unfortunately it looks like the only way to get a lot of wong kar wai’s movies currently is through a criterion box set, and they seem uninterested in releasing all of them individually, or pressing the 4k transfers they oversaw for theater release years ago. also as much as I like 4k blurays, I haaaate the default opaque black plastic packaging that most of them have. insane choice to standardize a premium and often overpriced product in the cheapest looking packaging possible. barely anyone cares anymore I guess

How dare you slander the Christopher Nolan box set… I love our 4k copy of The Prestige! …and also all those other movies are a bonus feature, I guess…
