Lady Dracula dev log and art dump

I work on Lady Dracula every day, and produce a lot of art for it, so I might share some of it here for a while.

If you don’t know what Lady Dracula is, it’s this: Lady Dracula on Steam

Basically it’s a revival of the original, pre-Symphony of Night Castlevania formula, with a genderswapped cast of characters, Donkey Kong barrels and Yoshi’s Island transformation powerups, mostly authentic NES graphics, an optional CRT filter, a never-done-before difficulty system, and an entire second half of the game that’s upside down.

Here’s some screenshots from the demo to show what the gameplay looks like:

Right now I am making a lot of backgrounds. Here’s something I did yesterday. It’s a two-layer background with parallax.

i found your game a few months ago and words can’t express how excited i am.

i’m doing my yearly Halloween playthrough of Symphony of the Night. it’s one of my favorite games of all time, though i have a deep love for the series and it’s been so cool to see someone not only iterate on it but do something completely refreshing.

(am i allowed to comment here? i don’t want to take up your space and will happily delete)

Thank you very much! Yeah, comments are of course encouraged and appreciated.

I’ve seen you post about Lady Dracula on Bluesky a couple times, and it always makes me feel nice! I think you compared me to Bunlith once, which was a first for me, and especially flattering, ha.

This is my first time doing a commercial game, and it’s kind of one of the hardest and most nerve-wracking things I’ve ever done, so kind words really do a lot for my motivation. So, thank you again.

I don’t quite remember but that sounds right, as a big fan of Bunlith’s work as well!

I’m glad it gives you some motivation. I pal around with some folks working on their own games and similar projects and it’s TOUGH I’ll keep getting the word out as i can. indy devs are doing some of the coolest, most important work in gaming right now.

i am but a humble writer by trade and might have my own stuff lined up; i just love seeing people doing their passion projects and do whatever i can to uplift those voices cause i genuinely feel it’s culturally defining; triply so with marginalized folks.

them voices need to be and more importantly should be at the forefront when it comes to reshaping this rotten industry, and will inevitably save it.

lmao i have big thoughts on it i’ll spare you but those are the bare bones lol
