I actually havent played the newer one!! But its a shame to hear it doesnt compare!! X,)

Omg how have I not noticed that til now? Haha. Totally unintentional. I should do that more often!

My launch model 3DS is still kicking! Had it since 2013 iirc. I don’t use it that often lately, I really ought to get back into it, I’ve gotta finish Fire Emblem Echoes and probably some other games too. Also shout out to Red Viper, the Virtual Boy emulator that is probably the best possible way to experience Virtual Boy in 2025.

There was a time where I considered spending a good chunk of change to repair my New 3DS XL’s screen with its circle of dead pixels, especially when I suspect it’s going to be the best way to play that Virtual Boy Wario Land game. I still occasionally think about it, but then I think to when I hacked my Vita, and there’s not a lot of times I used it beyond getting 120 stars in Super Mario 64. Part of me feels like 3D will eventually become “in“ again, and so will glasses-less 3D screens that are better than 3DS screens. Maybe, I don’t know.

But yes, the 3DS was pretty cool! Pushmo, Crashmo, Mighty Switch Force, Bravely Default, Mutant Mudds, those 3D Sega Classics, the StreetPass games, and, of course, Colors 3D, which ended up being my drawing tablet until I got an Apple Pencil. I can still pick my fully working New 2DS XL up and play WarioWare Gold, Rhythm Heaven, or those Ace Attorney games I managed to get for really cheap when the 3DS store went down. (I really underestimated how much I would miss the 3D, though)

I love my 3DS, but I had to trade in my OG 3DS for “NEW” version, which had a bad trigger button and I didn’t have the spoons to deal with it… T^T

I wonder if the Steam Deck can emulate it?

I remember how impressive the 3D was in Street Fighter, only to eventually not care at all about the 3D part of the system. ^_^;

If you’ve still got it, maybe try using some WD-40 on the triggers? My OG 3DS had the triggers go out but then I was able to fix it with that.

This game game was reason enough to buy a 3DS. That plot twist and the job system are just too dang good :pinched_fingers:

If feels like the rubber inside wore out?

That Super Street Fighter IV port was pretty impressive. No background animations, but all of the fighters are there and accounted for and it looked the part even if the 3DS’s controls weren’t the best for fighting games. I believe I only rented it back then, but it was another game I ended up buying alongside the Ace Attorney games when they went on sale near the end of the 3DS eShop.

One particular game where the 3D really popped out for me is 3D Galaxy Force II. The addition of depth perception really helped the game both graphically and gameplay-wise.

I bought the og 3DS day one with street fighter iv and samurai warrior chronicles, it was stunning how these games look cool !!

The 3ds is easily the best handheld gaming hardware ever made, and it’s library is fantastic. The last game I played on it was the first Professor Layton, it was a good time.

For hardware I would have to go with the Vita. There are too many games where you really want a real dpad or a second analogue stick on the 3DS. The circle pad pro tried to solve that issue but it’s awkward in practice. The little nub on the New 3DS doesn’t really cut it either. 3DS ended up with a better software library though. I love mine. I still have my launch 3DS, the Link Between Worlds 3DS XL, and a New 3DS.

I was one of the day one 3DS buyers. I played the console religiously all the way until the Nintendo Switch’s release, system transferring twice—once to a 3DS XL, and then again to a New 3DS. I even have the GBA games and Ambassador Certificate to prove that I’ve been there since the beginning.

This New 3DS really is the crown jewel of my collection. It’s the representative of the first ten years of my personal history with game consoles (once you also include my history with the DS and DSi). It’s loaded with themes, badges, and all my play history (except for my digital copies of games because the original microSD card I used with this system died and took all my save data there with it :sob:).

Over the holidays I flew a few times. I had just beaten MH4U and didn’t have any other 3DS games lined up, so I didn’t bring it with me. I almost always bring my 3DS on travel bc it’s my favorite handheld.

And this one time, of course, the guy sitting next to me had a 3DS. He was playing Sonic Rush. I missed one of my only chances to organically streetpass someone :sob:

Still going strong! My little brother modded it for me and it’s one of my favorites to have on hand.
