I like talking about TTRPGs, so this is my excuse.

Honestly, just vibing with doing it fairly quick and dirty at first, see how people vibe with it and see what is and isn’t wanted. Aka, I’ll do it tomorrow*, and I’ll keep my focus on making it accessible.

*Tomorrow is a wild concept for me atn so we’ll see.

I can turn the calendar thing on if you want, then at least you can play around with it

This is the OG for me. The game that changed everything - how and why we listen, how and why we improvise, collaborate, share spotlight, all the things indie RPGs can champion.

It taught me about DIY Game Design and designing with narrative philosophy and introduced me to a subculture of designers and players.

This New version looks like it’s going to be quite different in terms of outlook so I’m interested to see how that affects each part of the game.

I think it’s great and feel like more people new to TTRPGs (especially those introduced via Critical Role podcast sessions) ought to be more aware of it before they try to play a BitD game in D&D’s engine instead!

Also, hello. I’ve lived in tabletop books for more than half my life and broke the monogame dependency relatively early (I think I was 13 trawling Demonoid for more exciting TTRPGs to try out with friends every weekend instead of sticking to my First).

I mostly bounced around all my life, trying whatever sounded like it’d make the coolest illustration in any given moment, but I think the bulk of my games total amount to Exalted, OneRollEngine games (mostly Wild Talents), Fragged Empire, and 4e D&D.

Have y’all ever considered forum games before? I used to run a few with rules designed for forum play. My favorite with rules built-in for support was probably Chuubo’s Marvelous Wish-Granting Engine, but it’s by the Nobilis author and intended for homestuck-enjoying teenage girls, so major YMMV energy on that. Was really cool, though, doing decorated and image-filled posts to tell a story on the forum thread itself.

I think actual play has been a net good. For every few people only interested for the lifestyle there’s a few true believers made. Trying to crack that shell though has been rough. I’ve honestly never played to much of 5e. My groups always changed every other game.

Though I’ve never thought about forum games, they were pretty dead afaik when I looked into them. I was in an area where liking D&D would make you the one kid in a 30 minute radius so I got exposed to it after college. All my games now are play by post though.
