Game preservation, how to?

Quite a while ago, I found out I had a PS Mini that needed to be preserved and how to do it by pure chance.

The chances of owning another is probably not zero, but… I have no idea how to proceed?

I have a ton of weird old PC games that I really should check out before the CDs rot. :frowning:

The obvious answer is “piracy” but with the increasing number of games where important components rely on proprietary servers, even that has its limits.

The question is how do I found out if I have something that hasn’t been preserved yet?

Sorry, I misunderstood.

You’re just going to have to check online and see if any of the stuff you have has been dumped. Take a look on Archive.org and MyAbandonware but also just search around in general.

If you can’t find something easily then that doesn’t mean it isn’t nessesarily out there but it couldn’t hurt to try to upload your own copy anyway.

This could take a while then. I have too many CD games. T^T

You could list them here, we can go through it in our own time

Even listing them is going to take a while, since I have most them in storage.

My migraine is kicking my butt and I’m too dizzy to do much.

No worries, should all be safe, but happy to look around whenever you have questions

OK, I picked Space Bunnies Must Die and they don’t have the Spanish version.

That is, if this game is in Spanish or just the CD case?

What now?

Here’s a basic rundown of how to rip disc images. More season game preservationists use specific drives to get perfect copies but we have to make do with the tools we got, eh?
