I do a lot of doodling when I’m making notes on the counselling course I’m doing. Here’s the window of the classroom, and a little guy with 90s hair carrying an HMV bag.
loving 90s hair guy, what an icon
Some more doodles from my counselling class, which this week took place online, which is why two of the doodles are self-portraits of me as seen on Zoom: one in charcoal which kinda looks more like an old East Asian lady than me, and one in thick black ink, concentrating on drawing only the dark parts of the image, which does look like me.
Also, various critters being somewhat surly with each other.
Love these as usual! The snarky critters have so much personality ![]()
Ink portrait is looking pretty ominous - something about blocks of colour in sketchy ink for me I think!
Also, bit of an aside but Home Movies was wonderful
No doodles per se from class today, but we had to do a drawing exercise as part of learning about gestalt techniques, so enjoy this polar bear.
Nice! I love the little guy at the top right of the second one ![]()
Poor little creature! Hope it was ok
Found a YT channel with some very easily digestible tutorials on drawing with basic shapes and as someone who has seriously attempted to learn how to draw for the past 20 years, these are the most actionable things I’ve seen yet.
Mind sharing this channel?
I’ve only watched a few of his Shorts, don’t know what the long forms are like yet https://youtube.com/@the_art_coach?si=1FOkiEu0ziFiRTPb
I’m not ready to post them yet (or ever) but I’m trying to start a daily habit of quickly sketching a self portrait both to improve my drawing skills and to get more comfortable with my self image.
I’ll report back in a few weeks to see if it made a measurable difference.
Started embroidery as a new hobby! This is the second thing I made, the attorney’s badge from ace attorney :3
Counselling course has resumed after the Easter break which means I’m doodlin’ again. Here we see two very quick sketches after photos: one of the behavioural therapy pioneers Aaron Beck and Albert Ellis, and one based on a still from the obscure David Rudkin TV play Artemis 81.
I’m trying to sketch in pen a lot more, the theory being that this will force me to make more confident, definite decisions. It does lead to some goofs though, like the way I’ve gotten Ellis’ glasses wrong and they’ve ended up looking like a domino mask.
