Digital ID on Brazil, and how mad I am

I reaaaally don’t know where to say this, so why not use the _core category from this forum?

So, tomorrow, or maybe today if for you is 17 of march, brazil is rolling out digital ID for absolutely everything saying its to “protect children”. And well, you’ll need to use your ID or face to do anything but see porn, because they didn’t block those sites.

And welp, I think i’ll start to use forums more to post stuff and talk about my interests. Wait, can I even post something that looks like a rant?

Rants very much welcome. They’re doing these ID laws all over the world and it’s so blatant and not thought out, it’s quite frustrating.

yeah this shit is happening everywhere, UK, Australia, several US states, and I’m sure other places as well. Not to mention payment processors putting the screws into Steam, Itch, and other online stores to stop selling content they don’t like.

All happening while we learn that the rich and powerful have been sex trafficking minors with impunity and will continue to do so with no accountability.

But of course we have* to put our IDs online so the government and Palantir can know exactly what we’re looking at at all times.

*you do not have to, resist however possible. VPNs are your friend

That’s some bullshit, it’s horrible how they keep pushing this and how a lot of people are willing to roll with it for some inane reason.

Already started using ProtonVPN by using their free plan and i’m already thinking of paying the monthly subscription. Anything but giving my data to random third parties.

Digital ID and AI are things that not a single person who tries to be informed likes, and yet they still push it.

About Digital ID, some people defend it by saying “Oh, but I have nothing to hide!”, but don’t stop to think that it’s an invasion of privacy. If you have nothing to hide IRL, why do you get mad when someone keeps asking you personal questions for no reason? Don’t you have nothing to hide? So why want some privacy instead of running your mouth about everything you do in your private life to everyone?

There’s been a huge push for ID and ‘verification’ recently, tech companies are lobbying for it, presumably to harvest more data and to push smaller sites (like this!) out of business.

It’s bad, and the damage is done even if a few of us can subvert it with VPN’s or fake face-scan metadata.

Yeah this shit sucks

And I like VPNs, but they do add a no small amount of lag to internet browsing if your internet is not super good
