Pretty much what the title says! I read the article @AJ_McKenna posted and immediately got an idea for a very simple and slow game
you open up a website and you’re greeted with a landing page and a little pot with a seed growing inside it. Then, if you visit the website again after 23 hours (24 is annoying cuz you can get out of sync, could also maybe just work off the date? who knows!) it grows one stage! you can’t speed it up, you can’t really interact with its growth other than visiting the website again in another day, maybe there’s a new plant every month?
if you forego the ability to swap seeds it acts as a sorta status symbol or a badge, if you add in the ability to swap seeds you can grow the plants you want to see on the page if it’s somewhere you return to often (omg like a forum or something) (can you tell ive been enjoying my time here, I’m getting Forum Game Ideas), and you can still have it as a badge
noodling on that idea a little bit, if every month has a plant, over multiple years you could have multiple plants occupy the same month-space and you could be like. a level 2 November Plant Person if you have two fully grown November plants.
This also brings into question how long the plants would take to fully mature, cuz each month has a different amount of days? so either they all stop a little short, say like 20 or 25 days? (nice, adds a little leeway) or they’re all tailored specifically to that month’s day count, so some are 30, some are 31, sometimes february is 28 sometimes it’s 29 (the “harsher” choice methinks, very rigid and you gotta be perfect to get em all)
If there’s any interaction outside of visiting the website at all I feel like it’s gotta be just. petting the plant? you rub your mouse over it a few times and it shakes and a little message pops up saying it likes that, that sounds cute?
anywho! thank you for listening to my cool epic “game“ idea, I’ll post more here if I have more ideas (also i will never work on this ever it’s just gonna stay words)
