Cool Creative Tool Sharing Thread

Found this page which lists a ton of DAW stuff and through it discovered Helios which is super cozy and easy to use for someone like me (unskilled)

I know it’s not the least well-known, but I’m a huge Tiled fan: https://www.mapeditor.org

Combining small bits of images has so many use cases even above and beyond what it’s named after, it’s really great stuff.

Since I’m getting back into pixel art, I’ve got to give Aseprite a shout-out. It’s not free, but in my opinion it’s worth the (one-time) purchase for any amateur pixel artist; if it’s too steep for you, it shows up in Steam sales on occasion.

‘Pixel Photoshop’ might be the best way to describe it, but it doesn’t have the steep learning curve. The online documentation is good and there are many tutorials on YouTube. It’s user-friendly and intuitive, though; I recently went back to it after a few years away and picked it back up in a couple of minutes.

I’ve tried a bunch of other pixel art apps, and some are excellent, but I keep ending up back here. There’s a reason indie games with pretty pixel art (Celeste! Wargroove! Unpacking!) are generally made with this tool.

Not sure if I should have made a new topic since this convo may know: “Are there free alternatives to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adobe_Character_Animator ?”/
