Ohohoohohoh That’s a really interesting prompt thing. I’m gonna have to think on this one for a little while! Definitely a challenge.
OK, I got Aseprite and actually started pixeling something. Looks like I’ll even have an entry.
The jam has already paid off for me - I tried something I might have not tried otherwise and I’m having fun with it.
Maybe the next Jam should be for designing a mascot for The Underscore.
ohohohoho this is a good idea
And just like that, out of nowhere, I was struck by inspiration

I know there’s plenty of time left, but I’ll just submit now, so that’s done and dusted!
It’s my life told through technological objects. Remembering about and drawing these items brought up a lot of memories, good and bad. I urge you to draw your own lines through this mosaic as our encounters with technology are unique and personal.

I had never tried anything like this before - at first it seemed really daunting, but then I started to feel like this format was actually really conducive to creating little stories.
sans eye…..
lovin the bitcrush!
I used this jam as motivation for a class where I needed to make a game prototype and I’ve been hyperfixating on it for the past week. It’s nearly done, I still need to make the last music (I’ll post the link soon)
You can have Bob as a preview.

Also I can’t read and didn’t see the 8-colours palette so I used a 4 colours palette… my bad

Okay I needed to get it out, it’s here and you can play it! drift by plut0.gif

Gonna be honest, I’ve been really struggling with this one.
It’s my own issues, nothing inherent to the theme or format. I’m just… I’m trying and it’s not working.
That’s okay, sometimes it’s just not meant to be
No need to force it, there will always be more jams in the future
yeah, same. I tried but my brain doesn’t exist in enough dimensions to be able to execute this prompt, lol. the most I managed was 6 squares.
I thought this was really charming - it reminded me a lot of these LCD toys from the mid 2000s called “Cube World” that were something like rudimentary virtual pets that could be put together to interact with one another. So as you combined more cubes, that each had a little stick person in them, their world grew (which is the specific element this game made me think of)
Oh! I love this! I wish I had the knowledge (and the means) to make something like this, I love those kinds of toys, it’s a shame we get less of this now
And now that you say it, maybe I’ll try to see if I can get Bob’s world to expand (but I’m afraid to break my code now)
Also for anyone who can’t/don’t want to play the game but still want to see, I put a small walkthrough here (I just recorded my screen and didn’t even edit it…)
