Just showing my support for lesbian witches, that’s from a webtoon, BTW just look it up there if you are curious about reading it.
Oh they are very cute
No witch has ever been cooler for me than Yuko from xxxHolic. It’s made by CLAMP, the people who made Sakura Cardcaptor, and it kind of shows, but it’s so desperatly elegant. It’s genuinely fascinating.
Shit, really feel like re-reading it again, now.
I am way to late to this thread, because I am a cool witch!
I’ve kinda been leaning less on the witch aesthetic for myself recently, but I still really like it.
My favorite witchcraft movie is Rob Zombie’s The Lords of Salem which I think is his finest work overall, full of creepy atmosphere and heavily inspired by the work of classic director Ken Russell.
OMG! I love her design so much! T^T
Spending the weekend playing some shooters, so in that vein:
The classic cute’em up, Cotton! Marion from Gunbird! The Deathsmiles girls, uh, I don’t know what any of their names are …I absolutely recommend loading up MAME and just credit feeding your way through them for a fun time. That’s the nice thing about emulating arcade games. They’re bright and colorful and engaging and you really don’t have to worry about the difficulty but when you start feeling more confident you can always aim for a high score!
I’ll just use this to simp for the Owl House in here
It’s great for many reasons but I’m trash at voicing reasons for it besides it being very queer and comfy and just lovely stuff going on.
So far the Witch Hat Atelier’s been very nice and comfy as well, though no clue how/when I’ll ever finish that as I have no clue where I’d get my hands on it here.
The Owl House is absolutely amazing and everyone should watch it. I appreciate there’s a lot of good lessons there for the younger audience, but for me Wendie Malick as Eda is pure ![]()
For those unaware, the creator Dana Terrace has 100% endorsed torrenting the show in her fury at Disney and has since moved over to Glitch (same as The Amazing Digital Circus) to produce Knights of Guinivere, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCAdbUaMlAE. Very much in her style, but a touch darker and with some good body horror bits thrown in. You can really feel her rage at the machine but it’s coming from a place I think we can all sympathize with these days. Excited to see where it goes, I like what I see so far.
Tangentially related to witches, this reminded me of Labyrinth of Refrain: Coven of Dusk, a really good dungeon crawler from Nippon Ichi. The story is extremely dark and actually pretty good, it’s on sale on Steam right now for 15€, Save 70% on Labyrinth of Refrain: Coven of Dusk on Steam (or you can download Ryubing and emulate it on Switch fairly easily too, if you’re into that sort of thing >_>)
I loved owl house, so i’ll check her new stuff out for sure, thanks for the link
This is my favorite thread, keeping it alive forever.
Something a bit different, here are some games with witches. One of my projects over winter break has been to clean up my ROM collection and get things neatly organized and scraped into EmulationStation. As I’ve been doing so, I’ve found a few little gems tucked away,
Painter Momopie (GB)
Play as a little witch who must turn all the dirty floors to painted checkerboard simply by passing over them. You have a time limit and there are critters who will move about the screen like this little mouse who can pass over walls you can’t and will occasionally leave footprints on already painted tiles that will need to be repainted. You can use spells to help you such as Speed Up or PewPew. Simple and engaging, it’s not difficult although it can get tricky if you don’t pay attention and rush. Definitely give it a try!
Little Magic (GBC & SNES)
A block pushing game where you have to move the magical flame onto its resting place before taking the stairs to the next floor. A nice twist on the genre, you can shove the block away from you one space forward, as well as create magic bubbles that will also push the flame when they burst. The combination of these moves allow for some interesting maneuvering in the puzzles distinguishing it form other takes on the genre.
